Australia has transitioned to the 7th Revised Edition of the United Nations GHS. The two-year period to transition Australia GHS SDSs written under UN GHS Revision 3 to Revision 7 ended on 31 December 2022.
As of 01 January 2023, manufacturers and importers of hazardous chemicals MUST ensure their product Safety Data Sheets and labels conform to United Nations GHS Revision 7. UN GHS 7 includes new hazardous chemical classes and categories, and updated precautionary statements. This SDS requirement also applies to hazardous chemical products that are repackaged or private-labeled. And effective 01 January 2023, suppliers of hazardous chemicals should only accept stock which is classified, labelled, and has an Australia GHS SDS prepared under UN GHS 7.
