The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently updated the Safer Chemical Ingredients List (SCIL), a living list of chemicals organized by functional-use class that EPA’s Safer Choice program has evaluated and determined meet Safer Choice criteria. The SCIL is a resource that helps multiple stakeholders, such as product manufacturers that make high-functioning products that contain safer ingredients, and chemical manufacturers that use the SCIL to promote the safer chemicals they manufacture.
In this update, the EPA has add nine chemicals to the SCIL. The EPA also has changed the status for one chemical (CAS Number 27619-97-2, 1-Octanesulfonic acid, 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluoro-). Chemical manufacturers and raw material suppliers that want to learn how to list a chemical on the SCIL may view the EPA’s step-by-step guide HERE.
